Carson Loftin entered the Hickory Hundred on Saturday night (April 13) as the only multi-time winner of the season for the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic. The 16 year-old driver ended the night by collecting his fourth Banker's Life SMARTY trophy of 2024, this time at the famed Hickory Motor Speedway
When Carson Loftin climbed out of his car following Saturday’s (April 6) Rumble in Rougemont at Orange County Speedway, he thought he had just wrapped up a solid second-place effort. However, he soon found out that he had, in fact, scored his third-career victory on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic.
Blake Barney commanded the late stages of the race and took the checkered flag, but his win
was disqualified after series officials found an unapproved intake manifold on the engine of the
27-car in post-race technical inspection.
Carson Loftin held off a charge by 2008 Daytona 500 Champion Ryan Newman to score his second straight win on the SMART Modified Tour by taking the Warrior 100 at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina. The win comes after an emotional week for Carson and the team losing fellow racer and great friend Zach Brewer.
(SMART RELEASE) The old phrase, “The Apple Didn’t Fall Far from the Tree,” could certainly apply to 9-time SMART winner Brian Loftin and his son, Carson. In just his 16th-career series start, the 15-year-old driver won his first race in a Tour-Type Modified. It came Saturday (March 2), in the Peanut Patch 99 at Florence Motor Speedway (SC), which marked the season opener for the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic.
Carson Loftin finished third in the Championship Standings on the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic in 2023 winning the Racing Electronics Rookie of the Year award. In 2024, the 15-year ofd looks to build on the lessons learned during his first full-season of competition on a Tour-Type Modified.
Carson Loftin led the most laps during the Pace-O-Matic 99 at Virginia's South Boston Speedway on Sunday en route to a solid second place finish. The finish locked Carson into the "SMART 3" Championship Eligible drivers for the season finale at Orange County Speedway on October 28th.
Carson Loftin's sixth place effort at North Carolina's Tri-County Speedway has the 15-year old driver in the hunt for the 2023 SMART Modified Tour Championship with just two-races remaining on the schedule. The Cardinal 99 started out well for the 23-team with great speed on the charts during practice at the North Carolina speedplant.
Carson Loftin will race a double-header Modified weekend making his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) on Saturday and the next day compete in The Radford Race at Pulaski Co. Speedway in Virginia on the SMART Modified Tour.

A third-generation racing talent, Carson Loftin has risen through the ranks and is now competing in the SMART Modified Tour. SMART Mods are 600-horsepower racing machines that tour professionally throughout various Short Tracks in the Carolinas and Virginia.
Brian Loftin is a 20-time winner in Touring Modified Racing. In 2008 he captured the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Championship. He's also a multi-time winner at North Carolina's historic Bowman Gray Stadium. Brian competes regularly on the SMART Modified Tour with the Shady Grady Racing Team out of North Carolina.
Carson became a winner in the 602 Crate Modified division in 2022. He was crowned the 2022 Caraway Speedway 602 Modified Champion and won in the Carolina Crate Modified Series as well. Late in 2022, Carson graduated to a full Tour-Type Modified, competing with the SMART Modified Tour. He made his debut at Virginia's Dominion Speedway.
